It’s the moment UFO fans have been waiting for – <a href="https://www.cia.gov/library/center-for-the-study-of-intelligence/index.html" target="_blank">the CIA has hand-selected some formerly top-secret files and photos</a> to ‘prove’ extraterrestrials exist.
<a href="http://www.foia.cia.gov/collection/ufos-fact-or-fiction" target="_blank">The CIA released the files</a> – seemingly to coincide with the new X-Files episodes – provoking disbelief on UFO websites.
<br />
<br />
One report, entitled, Flying Saucers and dated 1 August 1952, says, ‘Less than 100 reasonably credible reports remain ‘unexplainable’ at this time. It is recommended that CIA surveillance be continued.<br /><br />‘It is strongly urged, however, that no reports of CIA interest or concern reach the press or public.<br /><br />The CIA said, ‘We’ve decided to highlight a few documents both skeptics and believers will find interesting.<br /><br />Such documents often prove disappointing to hardcore UFO Fans, according to one expert.<br /><br />Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigations Manual, said last year, ‘At least 10,000 UFO reports collected by the US, Project Blue Book, have been put online and many other governments have released their UFO files.<br /><br />‘So we have an embarrassment of riches yet these have been largely ignored by UFO researchers, yet they could provide lots of information about types of sightings and their patterns over time and place.<br /><br />‘The problem is alien saucers and body parts remain as elusive now as they always have been, and it frustrates the hell out of conspiracy mongers and ufologists. <br />

<div class="article__summary summary ">
There’s no shortage of intrigue amidst the CIA’s newly released
archive of nearly 13 million pages of declassified records. Some of the
more peculiar revelations detail the handling of UFO sightings and the
potential weaponization of psychic powers.

</div>
In this <a href="https://www.cia.gov/library/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP81R00560R000100040072-9.pdf">particular document</a> concerning such reporting, a UFO is defined as <i>“any
 object which, by performance, aerodynamic characteristics, or unusual
features, does not conform to known aircraft or missiles.”</i><br />
<br />

There are a number of documents relating to sightings in <a href="https://www.cia.gov/library/readingroom/docs/DOC_0000015445.pdf">Norway,</a><a href="https://www.cia.gov/library/readingroom/docs/DOC_0000015465.pdf">Spain and North Africa</a> and the former <a href="https://www.cia.gov/library/readingroom/docs/DOC_0000015342.pdf">USSR</a>
 among the millions of pages. While many sightings feature throughout
the extensive release, there have been no conclusive findings documented
 as of yet.<br />
<div class="rtcode">
<center>
</center>
</div>
It
 seems the CIA was keen to emphasize the importance of rapid but
thorough reporting of any such sightings as a matter of national
security, listing the four phases of air defense as: detection,
identification, interception and destruction. The Unidentified Flying
Object Program requires that all US Air Force (USAF) commanders adhere
strictly to these guidelines.<br />
<br />
<img alt="aliens animated GIF" class="gif" data-absolute_url="/gifs/x-files-fox-mulder-dana-scully-pCvOYwcoDvHMY" data-animated="https://media.giphy.com/media/pCvOYwcoDvHMY/giphy.gif" data-height="210" data-mp4_url="https://media.giphy.com/media/pCvOYwcoDvHMY/giphy.mp4" data-still="https://media.giphy.com/media/pCvOYwcoDvHMY/200_s.gif" data-width="321" id="gif" src="https://media.giphy.com/media/pCvOYwcoDvHMY/giphy.gif" style="height: 314.019px; left: 0px; top: -1px; width: 480px;" /> <br />
<b><br /></b>
The
 procedure calls on air force commanders to report all UFO sightings
including those received from other agencies, governmental bodies or
civilians.<br />
When reporting a sighting, the document states that the
 following data points must be specified and explained in as much detail
 as possible: shape, size, color, number, formation, distinct or unique
features, any tail, trail or exhaust, any sounds and any other unusual
features not covered by the preceding points.<br />
<b><br /></b>
<img alt="ufo animated GIF" class="gif" data-absolute_url="/gifs/ufo-agQgkSH1PS7fy" data-animated="https://media.giphy.com/media/agQgkSH1PS7fy/giphy.gif" data-height="256" data-mp4_url="https://media.giphy.com/media/agQgkSH1PS7fy/giphy.mp4" data-still="https://media.giphy.com/media/agQgkSH1PS7fy/200_s.gif" data-width="624" id="gif" src="https://media.giphy.com/media/agQgkSH1PS7fy/giphy.gif" style="height: 196.923px; left: 0px; top: -1px; width: 480px;" /><br />
<b><br /></b>
The
 USAF also highlights the three major reasons for taking UFO sightings
so seriously: air defense and the elimination of any potential threats
to the United States or its armed forces; to determine the technical or
scientific characteristics of such UFOs and thus maintain military
intelligence and technological dominance; to explain or identify all
such instances in order to maintain strategic readiness in all
eventualities.<br />
The CIA had also <a href="https://www.cia.gov/news-information/featured-story-archive/2016-featured-story-archive/how-to-investigate-a-flying-saucer.html">previously published</a>
 its own handy set of guidelines for amateur stargazers out there to
organize themselves and flood their local air force bases with sighting
reports:<br />

to <i>“collect foreign intelligence information against documents shielded from normal perception,”</i> in a project code-named ‘Stargate.’<br />
These
 efforts weren’t limited to mere mortals, however, as none other than
Israeli-born, celebrity psychic Uri Geller was brought in to test his
psychic mettle against the researchers.<br />

<br />
Geller <a href="https://www.cia.gov/library/readingroom/docs/CIA-RDP96-00791R000100480003-3.pdf">attempted to duplicate</a> a series of drawings produced in a nearby room without any knowledge of the topic or theme of the doodles.<br />
They
 ranged from a firecracker to a bunch of grapes and even a quick sketch
of our solar system. While Geller did have some surprising success
throughout the experiments, the CIA decided not to pursue the research
beyond its initial stage.<br />

If
 this all sounds familiar, that’s because it is; the 2009 film starring
George Clooney and Ewan McGregor named 'The men who stare at goats' drew
 heavily from rumors and reports about psychic warfare research
conducted by the CIA and other US intelligence agencies.<br />
While the
 release of millions of pages of documents may come as exciting news, it
 should be pointed out that they have been accessible since the year
2000, but only on specific computers housed in National Archives in
College Park, Maryland in the United States.<br />

Gigantic 'Alien Mothership' Spotted by International Space Station

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="460" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/QjPeTYa7Uac" width="660"></iframe>
<br />
<br />
<div class="b-article__lead" itemprop="description">
Footage has
emerged of what leading UFO researchers believe to be an alien
"mothership" – the mammoth craft was spotted on NASA's live feed of the
space region adjacent to the International Space Station (ISS).</div>
Fraternal
 alien fanatics Blake and Brett Cousins — renowned in the ufologist
community for their YouTube account thirdphaseofmoon — published the
baffling footage July 17.<br />

In the clip, a hazy object swims into view in the background of the
ISS — while seemingly a mere line of burning orange orbs initially,
quickly the shape of what appears to be a spacefaring vessel gains
contour and colour.<br />
<br />
However, almost as soon as the unexplained entity gains definition, it melts back into the infinite darkness of space.<br />

The clip itself, the Cousins duo said, is sped up by 900 percent — the actual event lasted over nine minutes.<br />

The pair enlisted the expertise of a UFO aficionado to shed some
light on what the apparent craft — which they claimed was "tracking" the
 station — might actually be.<br />
<br />

<div class="marker-quote1">
"First, when I was looking at it, I don't know
exactly what I was looking at, but as the video progresses and you start
 to see things begin to move… you see these orange dots around it, and
one in particular is above it, almost as if the light is going to the
ISS. At the end of it, entire thing almost shrinks up a little bit. It
could be a giant mothership, with those small orange balls being the
Earth excursion ships that are always visiting us," the expert said.</div>
He went on to explain the "discs" typically seen by humans on Earth
are in fact "little scout ships" released by motherships such as the one
 depicted in the video.<br />
<br />
<img alt="Alien" class="" height="346" itemprop="associatedMedia" src="https://cdn3.img.sputniknews.com/images/105548/18/1055481809.jpg" title="Alien" width="640" /><br />
<br />
The video attracted over 40,000 views in a mere two days
following its upload date (July 17), with many viewers theorizing in the
 comments section as to what the incongruity could be.<br />

One was unequivocal and resolute — the sight was an "interstellar
mothership" keeping an eye on NASA's activities. They went on to say
NASA had lied about aliens ever since their first encounter with a UFO.<br />
<br />

"It's pretty obvious we're either a protected planet like a nature
reserve or under the protection or rule of another alien race. People
wonder how come so many different craft come here. It's like the aliens
are not allowed to say 'hello.' Why? Because we have been ruled from day
 one and still are. Pretty simple logic. Other aliens probably visit us
to look, but have an agreement to not contact us, hence crop circles,
graffiti? They probably say, 'poor humans being slaves I wish we could
tell them!'<br />
<br />
But it's much similar to the tribe that lives in the Andaman
 Islands, they have no contact with the rest of the world, they have no
idea what's out there. Our governments won't let us say hello, and
that's on Earth, so people don't be shocked that they are here but not
allowed to speak to us, it's like the Earth is being run by Kim
Jong-il," speculated user MrSonicseeds.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="giphy-embed" frameborder="0" height="480" src="https://giphy.com/embed/MMhC6UhlZuxwY" width="415"></iframe><br />
<br />
However, some were more circumspect, if not outright cynical,
suggesting the footage in fact, depicted a storm in the Earth's upper
atmosphere.
<br />
Strange sights near the ISS are a common phenomenon. According to the
 channel chiefs, they have documented a panoply of similar, mysterious
anomalies on many of the hundreds of occasions they have tuned in to the
 feeds — nonetheless, despite the apparent regularity of these
incidents, NASA and other space agencies operating out of the ISS almost
 invariably refuse to address ufologists' claims directly, instead
merely denying they have so far encountered aliens, or uncovered
evidence of otherworldly visitations.<br />

ISS cameras captured an amazing scene —
 what appeared to be a large fireball streaking through space. UFO
enthusiasts were convinced it was an alien craft, skeptics countered the
 fireball was simply a meteor entering Earth's atmosphere.<br />

NASA sparked controversy after <a href="https://sputniknews.com/art_living/201607171043144356-nasa-cut-iss-strea-video-ufo/">cutting off live video</a> from the ISS after cameras spotted a bizarre unidentified flying object approaching the Earth.<br />

<br />
<br />
UFO hunters spotted the mystery cube and uploaded it to the web,
leading many to speculate that it was an unidentified flying object that
 latched onto the orbit of the solar system.<br />

The footage was apparently missing from a subsequent NASA upload,
leading some ufologists to suggest the agency deliberately edited the
footage.<br />

<br />

<strong>September 2016: Unidentified Fluffy Object?</strong><br />

A video grab from the live feed, depicting a small, white orb, was posted by popular YouTube ufologist Streetcap1.<br />

"Unidentified object is brighter on the left side due to the light
from the Sun, so not Lens Flare. NASA cut the camera feed so quickly
even though this was very distant, but I still managed to get a couple
of frames to enlarge," the video description read.<br />
<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="371" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/tJc3ljZiTwI" width="660"></iframe>
<br />
<br />
Skeptics suggested it was instead an "unidentified fluffy object" — a mere speck of dust on the ISS' camera lens.<br />
<br />

<strong>January 2017: NASA Cuts Live Feed… Again</strong><br />

A mysterious object again appeared on the live feed.<strong> </strong><br />

<strong></strong>Extraterrestrial enthusiast John Craddick
of Wolverhampton, England, said the object appeared "really small"
at first, but then grew bigger over a period of 25 seconds, before NASA
cut the feed.<br />

Alleged UFO ‘Mothership’ Filmed in North Carolina

<span style="font-weight: 400;">Video of an alleged UFO sighting in

sighting took place in Columbus, a small town in western North Carolina
with a population of around 1,000. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: 400;">The video shows a v-shaped formation
of bright lights hovering silently in the night sky, similar to the

 which appeared over Arizona in 1997. Is this a genuine sighting, or
could nearby Armed Forces bases be up to their usual tricks?</span><br />

 was uploaded to YouTube on April 3rd by the “UFO Institute” channel,
and MUFON has recorded the incident in its database. In the video, two
pairs of lights are visible on either side of a brighter central pair,
all of which appear to hover together in a v-formation. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: 400;">“Whatever it is,
 it seems to be dropping,” says an unidentified man filming the clip.
“I’d like to know what the heck those six lights are.” Me too, buddy. Me
 too. Unfortunately, with only one eyewitness and one dark video to go
on, it’s doubtful we ever will.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Another UFO YouTube channel,
TheHiddenUnderbelly, calls the lights a “huge mothership.” While that’d
be great, the chances are higher that this video shows something more
banal. A group of drones? Probably. Military testing? Possibly, although
 the many military bases in North Carolina are much farther to the east
along the coastal region of the state. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: 400;">Why would experimental craft
carry out exercises so far from protected airspace? For that matter, why
 would an alien mothership hover in the skies above a one-stoplight town
 far from major metropolitan areas?</span><br />

Something strange has been lurking in the skies above the
picturesque English county of Cornwall. And people have naturally begun
to wonder if the odd shape shifting phenomenon is aliens, though it’s

<br />
Twitter user Shane House posted this video while driving down the motorway in the southern county and wondered if it was a UFO.<br />
<br />
Some commentators were quick to point out that it was most likely a more worldly phenomenon – a murmuration of starlings to be precise.

That didn’t stop others posting similar videos asking the same question.

5 ‘aliens’ discovered near Nazca lines in Peru

<div class="article__summary summary ">
During a press conference entitled "The mummies of Nazca" in
Lima, Peru, UFO enthusiasts and journalists discussed the alleged
discovery of alien remains near the Nazca lines of Peru.

</div>
Well-known
 Mexican Ufologist and journalist Jaime Maussan claimed on Tuesday that a
 total of five bodies have been discovered in the past two months,
asserting that the remains possess qualities <i>"closer to reptiles than humans." </i><br />
He
 explained that the bodies are over 1,700 years old, which happens to
coincide with the timeframe in which the Nazca lines (geoglyphs or
artworks formed by lines drawn in the earth) are believed to have been
created. <br />

<br />
Maussan included X-rays of the mummified remains in order to dispute
claims made after the initial discovery in June that they were falsified
 or made of plaster cast.<br />
<i>"Nobody has proven that it is a
fraud. We are going to present preliminary evidence that will determine
in the eyes of the media, that these are true specimen,” </i>he said.<i>
 “And if there are still doubts that this is real, the obligation of
Peruvians and the whole world is to preserve these bodies to find a true
 answer."</i><br />

The well-preserved 'alien' remains unveiled late last month allegedly
 measured 5 feet 6 inches (168cm) tall, had three long fingers and an
elongated skull.<br />
<i>"Apparently the body of a baby with the same
characteristics according to the first analysis could be related.
However, now it is necessary to perform a DNA test to be able to
determine the relationship between the two," </i>Maussan said.<i>
"Those are two bodies and there are three of which seem to have
characteristics that are closer to reptiles than to humans. That is, we
have five bodies."</i><br />
Maussan has long been criticized for hyping up the existence of extraterrestrials on Earth with dubious evidence.<br />

 <strong>Aliens</strong><br />
<strong> </strong> <br />
British UFO author Nigel Watson described the find as <i>“a plaster cast model,”</i> describing it as <i>“110 perfect fake,”</i> as cited by <a href="http://nypost.com/2017/06/23/is-this-deformed-mummy-discovered-in-peru-for-real/">The New York Post</a>.<br />
Watson’s
 theory that it’s simply a money-making scam bears weight, as attendees
forked out a staggering $300 (£232) for the privilege of attending the
conference and seeing the ‘aliens’ up close, according to <a href="http://metro.co.uk/2017/07/10/another-three-fingered-alien-humanoid-has-supposedly-been-unearthed-in-peru-6767240/">Metro UK</a>. It wouldn’t be the first time a hoax has earned the prankster some substantial money, and likely it won’t be the last.<br />
<br />
The World Congress on Mummy Studies has previously described Maussan's work as <i>"an irresponsible organized campaign of disinformation,"</i> as cited by Metro.<br />
<i>“Anything associated with Jaime Maussan a serial promoter of fake alien evidence is suspect,”</i> it added.<br />
Professor Konstantin Korotkov, of St. Petersburg University in Russia, believes the bodies belong to <i>“another creature, another humanoid.”</i><br />

Popular debunking website <a href="http://metro.co.uk/2017/07/10/another-three-fingered-alien-humanoid-has-supposedly-been-unearthed-in-peru-6767240/">Snopes.com</a>
 has also weighed in on the subject, questioning the authenticity of the
 find back in June. It cited the ancient practice of artificial cranial
elongation as a possible explanation for the appearance of the<i> "fossils."</i><br />
<br />
DNA
 sequencing and CAT scans were carried out on the remains which were
allegedly from between 245 to 410AD but further tests are scheduled to
be carried out in the near future, claims Maussan.<br />
However, one
extremely dedicated debunker in Peru has already analyzed the
information provided and claims that the creatures’ hands are made of a
mixture of bones, including children’s bones.<br />
The detailed <a href="http://descreidos.utero.pe/2017/07/05/esta-es-la-falsa-mano-alienigena-que-los-cientificos-de-maussan-determinaron-anatomicamente-correcta-y-funcional/">analysis</a>, carried out by <a href="https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Rodolfo_Salas-Gismondi">Rodolfo Salas-Gismondi</a>,
 from the Paleontology Department of the National History Museum of
Peru, and associate researcher at the American Museum of Natural
History, claims that the anatomical structure of the hands does not make
 any evolutionary sense and is essentially <i>“incorrect”</i> biologically speaking.<br />
This
 may just be the latest in a never-ending line of alien hoaxes preying
on the naivité of sci-fi fans and conspiracy theorists just to make a
quick buck but at least there’s some improved production value this
time.<br />

‘Secret UFO Video’ from 1996 Space Shuttle Mission

 the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STS-135" rel="noopener" target="_blank">last Space Shuttle mission</a> ended on July 21, 2011. That’s nothing compared to how long it’s been since the first humans to land on the Moon in July 1969.<br />
<br />
That headline comes from a <a href="https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/weird-news/694430/news-ufo-aliens-lie-detector-test-buzz-aldrin-astronauts" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Daily Star article</a>
 referring to a “lie detector test” conducted by The Institute of
BioAcoustic Biology in Albany, Ohio, on astronauts Buzz Aldrin, Al
Worden, Edgar Mitchell and Gordon Cooper. All at one time or another
claimed to have seen UFOs during their space missions.<br />
However, the
so-called lie detector tests may be that in only the loosest sense of
the word as this latest technology, as pointed out by Micah Hanks at <a href="http://mysteriousuniverse.org/2018/04/aldrins-aliens-a-deeper-look-at-one-astronauts-famous-ufo-sighting/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Mysterious Universe</a>,
 was actually conducted on voice recordings of the men talking about
their alleged encounters since Mitchell and Gordon are both deceased and
 their stories cannot be tested using more conventional lie detectors.<br />

“NASA releases video of ‘UFO’ from 1969 space mission sparking frenzy online”</blockquote>
That headline comes from a <a href="https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/weird-news/694669/Alien-news-NASA-releases-video-UFO-1969-space-mission-Buzz-Aldrin" rel="noopener" target="_blank">follow-up article</a>
 the following day by the same Daily Star, which could use a proofreader
 as well as that “latest technology” lie detector. While the date says
“1969,” which was the year of Buzz Aldrin’s alleged UFO sighting, the
“video” it refers to is actually from the Space Shuttle mission STS-77
in 1996.<br />

<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" id="attachment_108791" style="width: 580px;">
<br /></div>
That apparent juxtaposition of the numbers in the year is not the
only problem with this article. While it’s true that NASA released this
<span style="background-color: #fff2cc;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>video (seen <a href="https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/weird-news/694669/Alien-news-NASA-releases-video-UFO-1969-space-mission-Buzz-Aldrin" rel="noopener" target="_blank">here</a>)</b></span></span>, it was not a recent release.<br />
<br />
It’s actually been around since 1996 and was the subject of a <a href="https://www.popularmechanics.com/space/a4298/4319637/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Popular Mechanics</a>
 debunking in 2009 in which identified the UFO as the Passive
Aerodynamically Stabilized Magnetically Damped/Satellite Test
Unit(PAM/STU), whose launch and deployment was tracked by shuttle
cameras and narrated by the astronauts, who often referred to it as the
“target” – a common military term for just about everything being
watched, not just enemies and UFOs.<br />
<br />
It’s too bad we’re forced to look at these sensationalized clips when
 so much of what was studied on these Space Shuttle missions was only
lightly covered at the time and not at all today. <a href="https://www.jsc.nasa.gov/history/shuttle_pk/pk/Flight_077_STS-077_Press_Kit.pdf" rel="noopener" target="_blank">STS-77</a>,
 the 77th of 134 missions, tested one of the early inflatable space
structures so common today and performed experiments developed jointly
by numerous countries.<br />
<br />
The astronauts even had some fun working with a
Fluids Generic Bioprocessing Apparatus-2 (FGBA-2) to determine if
separately stored carbon dioxide, water and thick liquids could be
combined in space and consumed without bubble nucleation and resulting
foam formation. In other words, they tried (successfully) to make
Coca-Cola and Diet Coke in space.<br />
<br />
<div class="wp-caption aligncenter" id="attachment_108789" style="width: 580px;">
<img alt="" class="size-medium wp-image-108789" height="435" src="http://mysteriousuniverse.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/buzz-570x388.jpg" width="640" /><div class="wp-caption-text">

Sure, exploration is the ultimate goal of all space programs, but the
 mundane groundwork and testing is crucial to future success. It’s also a
 place for many to be a part of the space program – while Neil and Buzz
stepped onto the lunar surface, one of the most remembered videos was of
 the many people in the control room celebrating the success of the
project so many had worked so hard to achieve.<br />
<br />
It’s time to get back to developing new interest in space
exploration, space science and space technologies instead of rehashing
old (and misleading) events. As a different <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114709/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Buzz once said</a> (and you don’t need a lie detector test to prove it).<br />

<div class="article__summary summary ">

It’s five years to the day since NASA’s Curiosity <b>Mars rover</b>
touched down on the surface of Mars – a staggering 248 million
kilometers (154 million miles) from Earth.

</div>
Curiosity
 has many a space nerd hooked to its updates, providing huge quantities
of images and data to trawl through, and inspiring endless speculation
over the Red Planet’s features (and inhabitants).<br />
To mark
Curiosity’s five years roaming our nearest planetary neighbor, RT.com
takes a look back at some of the strangest images it beamed back to
Earth.<br />

The rover’s mission is to
study Mars and determine if it hosts – or ever hosted – life. This photo
 of dusty, jagged rocks looks pretty innocuous at first glance, but some
 eagle-eyed observers claim it clearly shows a ‘space crab’

the Alien movies.<br />

One YouTube user suggested that the occurrence of UFOs in Russia was not unusual, noting that they are <em>“quite often” spotted in Moscow, Volgograd and Astrakhan. rt</em><br />

        In the aftermath of the Pentagon disclosing videos of US Air
Force sightings of unidentified, inexplicable flying objects, a former
Navy pilot has come forward to reveal details of his encounter with a
UFO. </div>
<div class="article__summary summary ">
 </div>
Cmdr. David Fravor, who was a Navy pilot for 18 years, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/checkpoint/wp/2017/12/18/former-navy-pilot-describes-encounter-with-ufo-studied-by-secret-pentagon-program/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">told</a>
 The Washington Post he saw the mysterious flying object while on a
routine training mission off the Pacific coast between San Diego and
Ensenada, Mexico, in November 2004.<br />
<br />
Fravor said he was ordered by command to do so some <em>“real-world tasking”</em> as there were unidentified flying objects descending from 80,000 feet to 20,000 feet and then disappearing.<br />
Officials
 told the former fighter pilot, who was the commanding officer of a Navy
 squadron of F/A-18 Hornet fighter planes at the time, they had
encountered dozens of the objects over the previous few weeks.<br />
<br />
The object was roughly the same size as Fravor’s plane but it had no wings and looked like a Tic Tac mint. It was <em>“just hanging close to the water,”</em> he said.<br />
<em>“As I get closer, as my nose is starting to pull back up, it accelerates and it’s gone,” </em>he said.<em>
 “Faster than I’d ever seen anything in my life. We turn around, say
let’s go see what’s in the water and there’s nothing. Just blue water.”</em><br />
<br />
Interestingly, he noted, it created no rotor wash – the air turbulence caused by the blades of a helicopter.<em>
 “This is revolutionary technology to be able to accelerate, go up and
down. Think about the advances that would bring to mankind,”</em> he added.<br />
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">A former Navy pilot believes he saw "something not from the Earth" while tasked to a Pentagon program dedicated to studying UFOs <a href="https://t.co/3g4BgBFKrA">https://t.co/3g4BgBFKrA</a> <a href="https://t.co/fWuS5lzvim">pic.twitter.com/fWuS5lzvim</a></p>— Chicago Tribune (@chicagotribune) <a href="https://twitter.com/chicagotribune/status/942988584663027712?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">December 19, 2017</a></blockquote>
<script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
<br />
The Defense Department analyzed the encounter, but what the object was, or what it was doing, remains a mystery. <em>“I
 think someone should have looked into it. Having talked to some of the
other folks, it’s a big frustration that it’s coming out now and wasn’t
discussed back in 2004,”</em> Fravor said.<br />
He was keen to dispel any notions that he was an unreliable source. <em>“I
 don’t think I was a nut-job as an officer in the Navy. I wasn’t drunk, I
 don’t do drugs. I got a good night’s rest, it was a clear day”.</em><br />
Footage of the incident was later released by the US Defense Department.<br />

<br />
On Saturday, it emerged the Pentagon spent $22 million to study UFOs
between 2007 and 2012. The Advanced Aviation Threat Identification
Program was led by former military intelligence official Luiz Elizondo,
who resigned from the Pentagon in October.<br />
<br />
In his resignation
letter, which was seen by the New York Times and Politico, Elizondo
lamented the lack of funding for the project and the fact that it
continues to be shrouded in mystery. Speaking to CNN Monday evening, he <a href="http://edition.cnn.com/2017/12/18/politics/luis-elizondo-ufo-pentagon/index.html?sr=fbCNN121817luis-elizondo-ufo-pentagon0959PMVODtopLink">said</a> there is <em>"very compelling evidence that we may not be alone”.</em><br />
<br />
Elizondo said his program uncovered<em> "a lot”</em> of<em> "anomalous” </em>aircraft.<em>
 “These aircraft – we'll call them aircraft – are displaying
characteristics that are not currently within the US inventory nor in
any foreign inventory that we are aware of.”</em><br />

Images of the circular

 <i>“initial stage of its design,”</i> according to the machine-translated sign at the exhibit, it is supposed to draw on the <i>“mature”</i> design technologies used in the contemporary US and Russian attack and cargo helicopters.<br />

The sign also claims that a new <i>“conceptual design of propeller blades has been successfully applied in helicopter design.” </i><br />
A
 cutaway schematic of the vehicle that has circulated on the Chinese
internet shows two pilots seated in the cockpit mounted in the middle of
 a giant rotor, encased in the saucer-like body of the helicopter.<br />
<br />
<img alt="" data-aria-label-part="" src="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EGrSZF_VUAAK6OK.jpg" style="height: 100%; left: -24px;" /><br />
<br />
All of the images and video from Tianjin show the prototype sitting
on the ground, rather than in flight. If it actually takes to the skies,
 this would mean that Chinese helicopter designers have finally solved
the challenge of making a functioning rotorcraft – something that has
baffled Western inventors since the Second World War.<br />
The most famous of these experiments has to be the VZ-9 Avrocar, the <i>“flying saucer”</i>
 developed by Avro Canada in 1958 as a secret weapon for the Cold War.
It never overcame the thrust and stability problems, however, and was
canceled in 1961.<br />
<br />
As for the ‘Super Great White Shark,’ some social media users have
already noted that it resembles the Roomba family of robotic vacuum
cleaners far more than the deep-sea predator it was named after.<br />

Aliens Are Still Probably Real And Here's Another UFO Video From The Navy To Prove It

Remember when we found out the government spent millions of dollars
on a program that discovered mysterious inexplicable metal alloys and
concluded that aliens were probably real back in a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/16/us/politics/pentagon-program-ufo-harry-reid.html" rel="noopener" target="_blank"><em>New York Times</em> report from December</a>? If you need a reminder, here’s another UFO intercept video from the Navy.<br />
<br />
The
 video comes courtesy of the alien investigation organization To The
Stars Academy of Arts and Sciences, where the former head of the U.S.
government’s Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, Luis
Elizondo, now works.<br />
<img class="ls-lazy-image-tag ls-gif lazyautosizes lazyloaded cursor-pointer" data-anim-src="https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--lNgrD3ji--/c_fit,fl_progressive,q_80,w_320/e3fz7ikz1ocmxicmpjvv.gif" data-chomp-id="e3fz7ikz1ocmxicmpjvv" data-format="gif" data-poster-src="https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--I4fsDeCe--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/e3fz7ikz1ocmxicmpjvv.jpg" data-sizes="auto" data-width="800" src="https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--I4fsDeCe--/c_scale,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/e3fz7ikz1ocmxicmpjvv.jpg" /><br />
<br />
According to the details of the video, which is reportedly from 2015,
 the Navy F/A-18 jet was engaged in a right turn while intercepting the
unidentified flying object, which was streaking above the water with no
visible wings or signs of a combustion engine 4.4 nautical miles away.
You can hear the pilots appropriately losing their minds.<br />
<br />
TTSAAS’s
 Elizondo is the guy who keeps saying stuff like these Navy and Air
Force videos are just the tip of the iceberg to news organizations like <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/12/politics/unidentified-aircraft-navy/index.html" rel="noopener" target="_blank"><em>CNN</em></a>, which should be freaking everybody the fuck out, but for some reason nobody seems to care!<br />
<br />
The
 organization has so far only released one other video of UFO intercept
footage from 2004 and an interview with that pilot, as pointed out and
featured over on <a href="https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/a19421807/video-shows-us-navy-run-in-with-ufo/?src=socialflowTW" rel="noopener" target="_blank"><em>Popular Mechanics</em></a>.<br />

UFO, bird - or just a smudge on the camera?<br />
Footage of a black object falling from a rainbow baffles locals and has War of the Worlds fans excited.<br />
