Web user has recently posted photos of the successful launch of fourth Type 071 landing platform dock (LPD). This is China’s fourth such LPD. It was launched three years after the launch of 3rd 071 LPD The Changbaishan.
The other two existing LPDs are The Kunlunshan and The Jinggangshan.
A Type 071 LPD carries 4 Type 726 air-cushioned landing crafts, each of which carries one ZTZ-96G main battle tank or 2 ZBD-05 amphibious armored vehicles or 80 marines. Its deck allows two helicopters to land or take off simultaneously. There are two more helicopters in its hanger.
